Hope Kitchen is an inter-church soup kitchen in Hastings, which feeds homeless people on Thursday and Saturday evenings. Funds are being raised to purchase a property for a rehabilitation centre for people with addictions.

Clerical Errors takes place in a small disused Methodist Chapel. A family of vagrants has taken over the Chapel. The parishioners are not at all happy, even though the Chapel is not used. No-one wants to take the family in and the Social Worker is called to deal with them. Julie’s outspoken views and the plight of her family moves the Minister enough to persuade him to bed down with them in the Chapel as a squatter in order to prevent their eviction and the family being split up. Can they hang on until their dad is released from prison in five months’ time?

The play looks at a number of social issues, particularly homelessness and has a strong Christian message for all of us. Written as a hilarious comedy, it should appeal to all ages, Christian and non-Christian.

A  service marking the 4oth Anniversary of St Peter & St Paul will be held on Friday 4th June 2010 at 7.30 p.m.

The Bishop of Lewes, Rt. Rev’d Wallace Benn will attend this service of Worship and Thanksgiving, which will be followed by buffet refreshments and celebration cake. Everyone is welcome to attend and Members of SHADES are encouraged to support the service and the cast of  Kingdom Airways.

A popular, annual event in the SHADES calendar, our barbecue in St Helen’s Woods is enjoyed by over 20 people each year. All are welcome, Members and non-Members. Bring your own food and drink to share with others (unless it’s best fillet steak and champagne!) and bring your friends and family.

Entertainment will be provided in the form of sketches from SHADES repertoire for this year and music by Adrian Rust.

Jo Brand

will be opening St Helen’s Park Preservation Society’s 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee Fayre and Concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday June 19th.

SHADES will perform eight sketches at 6 p.m.
Other entertainers will comprise The Melodians Choir, Sussex Brass, 1066 Pipes and Drums, Wendy Cameron School of Dance, Southern Stars Gymnasts, Summerfields Gymnastic Club, Morris Dancers, Punch and Judy and Chris the Conjuror. Stalls will include all kinds of Crafts, Plants, Fancy Goods, Cakes & Produce, Books, Fairtrade Wood Turning Items, Tombola Competitions for all ages, Games for children,  Football Shoot a Penalty, Treasure Hunt,  Grand Raffle, Refreshments & Cream Teas, Photo Competition, Launch of a book from a local historian of the area.
