The Death and Life of EVERYMAN 2017

October 2017

The next major production by SHADES Theatre Company is ‘The Death and Life of Everyman’, with four performances during October.

‘The Death and Life of Everyman’ is a humorous, contemporary adaptation by Patrick Dorn of the 15th-century morality play. Like John Bunyan’s 1678 novel ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’, the play utilises allegorical characters, including Everyman himself (who represents all mankind).
Everyman learns he must prepare to meet his Maker at the end of the evening’s performance.  Whilst examining the question of what he must do to attain eternal life, Everyman’s good deeds and bad are highlighted in the interplay between the characters, alongside some dramatised flashbacks from his life. “Everyman is going to die”, says the Grim Reaper. This is by no means a ‘grim’ drama. As an audience we’re able to both empathise and laugh with Everyman on his journey.

The Company will be touring four venues this year.
More details below and on the attached poster.

The proceeds from all four performances will go to Christian Schools Work in Hastings (CSWH). So do come and enjoy an entertaining evening out at the same time as supporting the Christian Schools Workers in Hastings, who do such sterling work in bringing the Christian message to our schools in Hastings and St Leonard’s.
